The Austin Food Truck Challenge is the perfect event to mix a social aspect into your
 learning and networking goals.

Austin is a city that is well-known for its abundant food trucks. It all began in the early ‘90s with a few family-owned taco carts on South Lamar Street. The movement took off in the 2000s, and between 2006 and 2011 the number of mobile vendor licenses tripled. Today, there are close to 2,000 food trucks throughout the city. Teams will join in the popularity of Austin’s food truck scene and go head to head in this fun, exciting, and interactive event. (View video)

We will divide the group into teams. We’ll start with a tour around town visiting several food trucks and sampling their products. This will give you inspiration for a business concept, branding, and menu. Then we’ll head back to Fairmont to build your own truck (in 1/8 scale). Part of the team is given a box of parts to build the actual truck, while the other members will get to work on the concept, business plan, decor, menu, branding and presentation. Each team will present to the entire group and a panel of judges. Best truck and presentation wins! Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.

This event is included in your registration but pre-registration is required (be sure you check the Food Truck Challenge option during the registration process). Cancellation fee applies.

Austin Food Truck Challenge is a casual event (comfortable sportswear, shorts, athletics shoes/sandals). Please dress for current weather conditions.
